Privacy

SpareHour is a phone app for same-day hangs in public places. This page describes what the app stores. The website does not have accounts.

What we store

• A phone number, or an Apple sign-in subject, so you can get back into the same account.
• The profile you enter: first name, birthday, gender if you give it, photo, bio, neighborhood, and interests.
• Hangs you host or join, the meeting place, chat messages for that hang, and whether the hang happened.
• Reports, blocks, in-app notifications, and a push token if you allow notifications.
• A rough location on the phone, only while the location setting is on, used to sort the list. We do not keep a location history.

Who sees it

Other people on SpareHour see your first name, photo, age, neighborhood, and interests when a hang shows you. The exact meeting place stays hidden until the host accepts someone. Chat is limited to people on that hang.

How long

Account data stays until you delete the account in Settings. Deleting removes your profile, photo, messages, requests, and hangs you hosted.

We do not sell it

SpareHour does not sell personal information and does not run ads. Phone login uses Twilio Verify when that is configured. Apple sign-in uses Apple. Push uses Expo’s push service. Place lookup uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim to check that a meeting spot is a public place in the neighborhood.
